Who is Animal Rescue Fund?
We were organized in 1998 to raise funds for the support of animal rescue and care, limited to St. Joseph County. We do not operate a rescue unit, but support those who do.   We have had Adopt-A-Thons and Walk-A-Thons, etc, and have helped with the local cable show highlighting animals from the county shelter. We are a registered tax-exempt charity.

We help pay for spay and neuter operations for those who cannot afford the operation.   For information on spay/neuter assistance, visit one of the following veterinary offices in St. Joseph County:   Animal Hospital in Sturgis, Colon Animal Clinic in Colon, Crossroads Veterinary Clinic in Three Rivers, Fawn River Animal Clinic in Sturgis Hedges Veterinary Hospital in Three Rivers, or Sturgis Veterinary Hospital in Sturgis.

We also have dog/cat food on hand for those who have a financial emergency. In the winter, we sell (for a donation), bales of straw for outside dogs, and will donate straw to those who cannot afford a donation.

C-SNIP - Kent County

C-SNIP is a non-profit charitable animal welfare organization that provides safe, accessible and affordable spay/neuter surgery for dogs and cats of people who cannot pay the fee at a full-service veterinary clinic.

C-SNIP’s founders set out to establish the area’s only reduced-fee pet sterilization clinic, and decided, for the convenience of its clients, to make it a mobile unit. They shared their dream with neighborhood leaders, law enforcement personnel, government officials, animal control and rescue groups and officials from the Health Department. All agreed the need was there. C-SNIP researched established spay/neuter programs to determine their course. They submitted grants to local and national foundations and received the funding necessary to put a substantial down payment on a fully-equipped $100,000 26-foot mobile clinic accommodating 28 animals. Just two years after their initial meeting, they took delivery of the clinic.

Visit their web site to see their current Clinic Schedule.

Operation Fix-It - Kalamazoo County

Through the Operation Fix-It Mobile Spay/Neutering Program, the Kalamazoo Humane Society is working to reduce pet overpopulation in Kalamazoo County.  The goal of the program is to spay or neuter cats that would have remained unaltered due to the limited financial resources of their owners.

Operation Fix-It offers assistance with spay/neutering the pets of low-income individuals/families at a reduced fee of $20 for male cats, $30 for female cats and $40 for dogs. Operation Fix-It days are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week at various locations in Kalamazoo County. If you think you may qualify for the program, or want further information, contact the KHS Operation Fix-It Program Coordinator at 269-345-1181.
