Apply For Mario

Hi! My name is Mario.

I had a rough start to life but my foster people say I am a good boy. I love to play with stuffed toys but most of all I LOVE to be held and to hug you.

I will sit in your lap or next to you on the couch or favorite chair. I haven't quite figured out how to ask to go potty outside but if you ask me and take me often I won't have any accidents.

Leashes scare me so I definitely need to have a fenced yard. I love my cage. I will go and sit in there by myself if I feel overwhelmed or just need some me time. I also dont mind sleeping at night or waiting in my cage for you to come home.

Big dogs intimidated me so I really prefer a home where I can be your one and only. I dont mind small dogs but would prefer they not be there. Cats on the other hand, they are just fine. I dont mind sharing my people with cats.

I love to have conversations with you. I will chatter at you when I am happy or want your attention.

I am easily scared. I need someone with patience and understanding. I respond very well to positive feedback. I do not walk on a leash yet but am learning. Clipping the leash to my collar is what scares me most about the leash.

Kelly F is his foster parent. The adoption fee for Mario is $250, please complete our online application formspeak to a volunteer if you are interested in adopting Mario. A volunteer will contact you.

All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above.

It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. Both PetSmart and the Kalamazoo Dog Training Club offer a discount to owners with newly adopted dogs. Enroll before any behavior problems start - you won't regret it!
