Meet Prince!

He is a highly intelligent, energetic, and loving pup. He has a heart of gold, loves to please, and loves belly rubs. He is extremely play and food motivated. He does have a stubborn streak, and will, on the occasion, talk back.

Prince came to us when Animal Services contacted us about an injured pup. After further investigation, we learned his two front legs were deformed after consistent trauma endured over the first year of his life. The deformation caused a lot of pain to Prince and, if left unattended, would surely worsen as he got older. To increase Prince's quality of life, we opted to get him the surgery he desperately needed. Thankfully, many generous donors helped us to offset the cost of his surgery. While his legs are still somewhat deformed, and he will likely experience symptoms of early onset arthritis, Prince's chances of having a normal, pain-free life increased 10-fold to what it once was.

Prince's ideal home will include an active family that has experience with GSD's. Prince would do best without cats or other small animals in the home. With his intelligence and energy, Prince (and his owner) will benefit immensely from obedience, vocational and/or agility training.

Renee D is his foster parent. The adoption fee for Prince is $300, please complete our online application formspeak to a volunteer if you are interested in adopting Prince. A volunteer will contact you.

All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above.

It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. Both PetSmart and the Kalamazoo Dog Training Club offer a discount to owners with newly adopted dogs. Enroll before any behavior problems start - you won't regret it!
