Special NeedsStevie is a Special Needs pet with Blind - Microphthalmia

Stevie is a sweet and spunky puppy who also happens to be blind. She was born with Microphthalmia - that basically means her eyes are too small and underdeveloped.

Stevie has started clicker training and knows how to sit. She also doesn't mind her crate and will relax in there happily, especially with a peanut butter stuffed bone to enjoy. Stevie is still working on potty training, but her foster mom has learned that she struggles to be consistent when moved into a new space / house. Her perfect adopter will understand this and be patient while she learns the layout of her new house and then continues working on potty training. Stevie LOVES treats and will work hard for them!

Because of her inability to see, her ideal home will have minimal stairs(or have baby gates set-up at all times) and a fenced in yard. She is dominant with other dogs already so she will require proper socialization with new dogs as she grows up, but may need to be an only dog in the home as an adult or be with a submissive male. She currently lives with three others dogs - including another dominant female who is teaching her boundaries to set her up for success as she gets older. She lives with a cat in her foster home as well, and does fine with him.

Stevie loves attention, playing tug-of-war with rope toys, and snuggling with her humans. She also likes to play with the other dogs in the house but plays hard. She is gaining confidence with new experiences but will always need to be introduced to new things slowly. Preference will be given to adopters who have experience with blind dogs.

Stevie is a very special girl who deserves a special home. Could that be yours? Apply to meet her today!

Hailey K was her foster parent.
