The clinic is located at the intersection of Portage Rd and Center St. Hours are Mon-Fri 9-6 and Sat 8-12. The staff will be happy to let you spend time with Katniss in a private room if you think you might be interested in adopting her. Katniss is sharing space with another Kalamazoo Animal Rescue kitten, her brother, Nightshade, who is also available for adoption.

Hi, I’m Katniss, a little fiery-orange beauty with gorgeous eyes that shine like galaxies! And like my name sake, I’ve learned that incredible adversity can be overcome.

I was born to a feral mom and brought into the rescue with my siblings and raised as bottle-babies. At eight-weeks old, my brother Morning and I thought that we had found our forever home together. Sadly, we had to be returned to the rescue due to a human’s allergies.

It’s been a difficult year for all the rescues, because a lot of the litters born to feral moms have been FIV positive. Because of this, my siblings and I had to undergo not one but two rounds of testing to make sure that we were 100% healthy. All of the fosters were ecstatic when they found out our test results were negative and we are all completely healthy kittens ready to find our forever homes!

My brother Morning and I were transferred to a new foster home, where we had a blast together—playing with all of our new toys and cuddling with our new humans. We were only in our new foster home for a few days before a new family came to adopt Morning, which left me all by myself.

But don’t worry! I like having the humans all to myself! They give me so much love and attention and so many toys to play with—I think I overstimulate myself sometimes… I love my circle toy—I still can’t get that ball out!—my catnip pillow, my scratching post—I’m a good kitty and scratch only where I’m supposed to—my balls and…well…ALL MY TOYS!

Once I’m all worn out—I’m quite the energetic kitten—there’s nothing more I like to do that cuddle up with one of my humans for a good snuggle! They call me a little snuggle monster and I purr purr purr!

I love to give and get affection and I love to play. I get along great with other kitties; I’m not sure about dogs yet. My new fosters have one, but it seems so BIG to a tiny kitten like myself!

I can’t wait for all the adventures we’ll have together as a forever family—playing, snuggling and laughing at all my crazy kitten antics! Please fill out an adoption application if you’re interested or come meet me at an adoption event sometime soon! Love,

Katniss

*May the odds be ever in your favor!*
