Apply For Lindsey

Rescued from the local animal pound, Lindsey is looking for the perfect home to fit her lifestyle. This bundle of love comes with some pretty high expectations from her forever family. Lindsey will be your shadow and giver of love and hugs, but only after you have taken a few minutes to get to know her. She loves woman and is learning that men are capable of offering love and affection as well. Men must earn her trust but once they do, expect Lindsey to curl up on your lap and fall asleep.

Lindsey gets along well with all dogs; male, female, big and small! She enjoys being part of a pack and blends in well, goes with the flow and is able to settle nicely among them. She is crate trained, house-trained, and eats well with other dogs around. She knows sit and stay, working on sitting pretty and stay at a distance. She is very agile and is capable of jumping, both up in your arms and unfortunately, sometimes on a table, however, she does know "off". She has about 85% recall and will run to you until her little legs almost give out. Lindsey enjoys lake life, she has been able to be exposed to this due to her time at Camp Whatadog while working on becoming a great dog.

Lindsey needs a home with consistency and positive leadership. She loves to work and enjoys learning basic obedience, this will be a must for her future owner as she wants to develop a bond and show her new owner all that she is capable of offering. She does have some confidence issues but in the past 2 weeks, I have seen huge improvements while working with her with strangers and men. She tends to become reactionary when visitors come and then when they leave. She is learning Sit/Stay at the door to help her deal with all the stimulants of people coming and going. Once people are inside, Lindsey is fine. In a nut shell, no one ever taught Lindsey how to greet strangers at the door or how to say goodbye. She is learning new positive behaviors while at Camp Whatadog. Lindsey does NOT need a home where she gets to make all the choices, no furniture, no free feeding and no jumping up on people and she must have a secure fenced yard, she will escape. If you have a home and heart that will offer her consistency, positive leadership with K9 rules, ongoing obedience training, then Lindsey is ready to be your best friend, shadow and giver of endless love!

Dusty R is her foster parent. The adoption fee for Lindsey is $200, please complete our online application formspeak to a volunteer if you are interested in adopting Lindsey. A volunteer will contact you.

All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above.

It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. Both PetSmart and the Kalamazoo Dog Training Club offer a discount to owners with newly adopted dogs. Enroll before any behavior problems start - you won't regret it!
