If you are looking for a cat who loves people Sylvester is your man! He was trapped by an organization we partner with and was too friendly to be released back outside. The woman from the organization who trapped him says "I think he was someone's pet and they dumped him outside in downtown PawPaw. He fathers all the other cats at my house. He is sort of scared of outside. He just wants to be inside and be loved." The night Sylvester came to our rescue I picked him up out of his cage so we could give him a vaccine. He immediately wrapped his paws around my neck and hugged me. He rubbed his face all over my chin purring the whole time. When I tried to put him back in the cage he moved to the other shoulder hugging tightly. I've since picked him up several times and encouraged other people to as well-he does this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!! He is a giant baby looking for lots of love! The foster home Sylvester was in prior to KAR has many cats, several dogs, and a few teenagers. Sylvester minds none of them as long as he gets love and attention. Sylvester did test positive for FIV. A cat with FIV given regular vet care will not have their life shortened. FIV is only transmittable between cats who are mating or give each other a deep wound bites. Cats with FIV live a long healthy life in a stress free environment. Sylvester lived in a house with several cats who are FIV negative He never shows any aggression-just lots of love. He would do great in a home with other cats-even ones who are FIV negative. Sylvester would probably enjoy a home with children. And possibly even one with dogs.

Marcie P is his foster parent. The adoption fee for Sylvester is $40. If more than one cat or kitten is adopted the adoption fees are discounted, please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Sylvester. A volunteer will contact you within approximately 48-72 hours.

All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue cats & kittens are spayed or neutered and feline leukemia tested prior to adoption. They also are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. All are given distemper vaccinations and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, a booster vaccine may be necessary after adoption which will be the responsibility of the adopter. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Most cats and kittens are microchipped when they are spayed or neutered.
