Caleb's Story - A Story of Courage

Caleb's life started on a sad note.

He was on his own in the world at just 9 weeks old. When he was found and brought to the county shelter he had terrible demodectic mange and a secondary skin infection due to poor nutrition and severe neglect!

Because Caleb was sick, he could not be put up for adoption and was available to rescue organizations only. Despite the best efforts of the staff, while at the shelter he could not be medically treated and had to suffer in wait of a second chance!

Despite the extra time and money required to nurse him back to health, the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue saw what a great pup he was and decided to act! How could we make a different decision once looking into those beautiful, kind eyes and experiencing his loving demeanor?
When brought into his new foster home - he had terrible head wounds to go along with the severe infection. He wanted to be given affection so badly, but it hurt him to be touched at first! But even when it was painful, he would show such courage and NEVER gave a mournful grown or growl.

After just 2 weeks of good food and good family, Caleb began to show vast improvement! He had to be "dipped" every two weeks at the veterinarian's, where he won the hearts of the staff for his bravery and good nature!

He found how much he loves to be with people and other dogs!

And, he is such a snuggle bug! He is just happy to be alive and super grateful for a second chance at life!

Caleb now has a new challenge - to find a loving home of his very own that will adore him as much as he deserves and will protect him always from the life on the street, in the shelter and the need to ever be rescued again!
Born in late 2006, Caleb is a wonderful Pit bull/Boxer mix that does well with ALL people and animals. He is so exuberant and loving he might be better suited to older children as he LOVES LOVES LOVES to snuggle up close and give LOTS of kisses! He loves to go bye-bye in the car, is fully crate trained and almost completely housebroken. He has a super obedient nature and would excel at obedience and agility training, and would love to be someone's running/walking partner! He is a very special dog that has shown incredible courage and been a remarkable testament to his breed(s) and the stable temperament of a rescue dog! He is a lifelong pal, compadre, best friend through it all - won't you consider making this brave pup's dream of a FOREVER home come true?

Are you in a position to adopt this special guy? Please complete an adoption application. He is fostered by Katie & Amber and his adoption fee is $225.

Want to be a part of his life in a different way? Please donate now so that we can rescue more "Calebs" and nurse them back to health.
