Meet Bernadette

Bernadette is a sweet girl who had a rough start to life. Despite that she still loves her people unconditionally. She loves to give kisses and will never turn down hugs, butt scratches, or cuddles. She knows basic tricks like sit and lay down. We have been working on some fancier ones that she is picking up on well. With her past she can have a little separation anxiety and does best if you kennel her while you are gone. She knows the command "go to bed" and is quiet and well behaved once kenneled. Because she gets so attached to her people, she can be a little cautious around strangers when she first meets them. We have been working hard on this, but it will require some more work once she is home. Once she meets someone a few times she recognizes them and makes friends. Bernadette would be do best in a home where she gets showered with all of the love and attention. With a proper, slow introduction she could do well with another larger dog in the house. She can be protective of her food and toys and would rather not have to share them but loves to run and play with other dogs her size or larger. While she loves kids of all sizes she might knock down a younger child on accident when she gets excited, so she would do better with kids 5 and up. She does need an experienced owner who is ready to work on a few training points but other than that is ready to find someone who can give her all the love she deserves.
