Titus, a senior 12 year old lab mix, is as gentle and sweet as can be! He is looking for the perfect home to live out his senior years. He currently lives with three kids (the youngest of which is 11) and another dog. He gets along well with all of them, as well as everyone he meets. His ideal home would have someone who is home most of the day. He loves being with people, but is also just as happy to nap in another room...just don't be surprised when he wakes up and comes to check on you! Titus enjoys playing with toys, especially toys that make noise. He will carry them around and sleep with them. He has a couple of habits his foster family would like you know about. He likes to sleep on couches. He loves walks but only can go for about a half of block before he's done and then will try to bite the leash and walk himself home. He responds well to gentle correction when he does this. Also, likes to carry his food bowl around when he's eating. He'd do best if his bowl is stabilized so he can't move it. And speaking of food, Titus came to the rescue extremely overweight. His previous owner, who had him for about five months, worked very hard with him and helped him lose ten pounds. His foster family is continuing with healthy eating and exercise, but he needs to lose more for his health. And due to his weight, he can't exercise for long periods of time all at once. He is also a little picky with the food he will eat. Through trial and error, we've discovered some that make his "favorite" list. Recent medical records state that Titus has some arthritis, but not to the extent that medication was prescribed. At times, he does limp when he first gets up after laying down for a while but after he walks for a bit, it resolves. He can do some stairs, but he currently lives in a two story house and will not go up an entire flight of stairs. He also has some lipomas, likely due to his old age. No action/treatment was recommended for them.
BValade is his foster parent. The adoption fee for Titus is $200, please complete our online application formspeak to a volunteer if you are interested in adopting Titus. A volunteer will contact you.
All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above.
